A Life Of Faith

A Life Of Faith

And everything that does not come from faith is sin. Romans 14:23C NIV

This portion of scripture is meant to simplify our Christian lives and help us along the journey.  We are taught about the witness of the spirit inside of us that if we are not at peace about an action or a decision, no matter how noble, we are better of not doing it. The enemy devices many ways of tricking us down a path of rebellion and unbelief causing us to behave contrary to our confession of Faith. The Spirit of the Lord says to us if you don’t believe that this is the will of God, or you feel the Lord would disapprove of this action then do not engage in it, because if you do it is sin.

Romans 14 endeavours to guide us on how to be towards those who would believe differently because of lack of understanding. If a brother would be caused to stumble in the faith because of my actions, for the sake of his salvation the best would be to refrain from doing it. It is a life of love and consideration, where we mature and understand that obedience is of utmost importance, as children of God we don’t go out of our way to amass all that we can, rather we are watchful to walk in obedience and love.

1 Corinthians 10:23 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.” Don’t allow passions to cause you to sin. You may see other Christians doing something that your convictions don’t permit you to do. The Word of God teaches us that only faith pleases God. So when we act apart from faith it is clear that we are no longer living for the Lord’s pleasure.
