Choose Life

Choose Life

The time is near when all things will end. So think clearly and control yourselves – 1 Peter 4:7 NCV.

The end and consummation of all things is coming sooner than soon. All things will end. They will be gone forever. The only things that will remain are the rewards we’ll have received from the Lord. This Scripture says it pointedly that people should think clearly and control themselves in the light and consciousness of the end of the world, which it says will be soon. We need to take it seriously into account the fact that man doesn’t set God’s times and seasons, neither does he know them unless otherwise revealed.

God has planted eternity in the human heart, (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Eternity is very much a part of the human psyche. It’s something we have an unexplainable inner knowing and longing for. This is because of God’s love and mechanism to keep us always aware of the end and consummation of all things so that we can think clearly and have sober reflections of this eventuality. In Deuteronomy 30 verse 19 the Lord says that life and death has been placed before humanity and therefore they must choose life.

Hower, if they don’t think clearly and control themselves to live responsibly and pleasingly before God they’re choosing death. Just like the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah the death of the world is coming soon, and so is the eternal death of those who are refusing to heed the clarion call to choose life by living for God. Furthermore, the Word says judgement will begin in the church – judging of the intents of the heart and the resultant behavior, conduct and actions of Christians. The end of all things is at hand.
