Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life – Proverbs 4:23
“Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts. Don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth; avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip. Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust.” Proverbs 4:23 MSG
“Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!” Hebrews 12:1-3 MSG
We have a responsibility to stay focused on our new goal in life, our life in Christ. We have been afforded everything we need to live a truly Godly life, and handed victory on a silver platter. We have no reason to whine and complain about all that confronts us, but a responsibility to overcome. Let us be rid of everything that distracts, the lie that says we are destitute. We are more, MORE than conquerors in Christ Jesus, this should be the anthem of our hearts. All whining and pity are out of place. Guard your heart against ingratitude, guard it against frailty, against offence and self pity.
