There encourage one another and build one another up – 1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV.
In all the churches that Apostle Paul wrote to, there is one common and noticeable thing in his writings and that is how he encouraged the body of Christ to pray for, exhort, build up, love and to live at peace with one another. As Christians we are the body of Christ, different parts that make up the whole. Whether we would like to admit this or not, we really do need each other. A toe can be seen as one of the smallest and insignificant part of our bodies but science has proven that the big toe actually assists the body to balance when a person is standing. Every part of the body is important and has a significant role it plays to ensure the body fully functions, (1 Corinthians 12:17-23). It is like that even in the body of Christ, if one of the brethren is harmed or weak, the work of the Kingdom is compromised. That is why we have to be our brother’s keepers, encouraging the weak, stirring up one another to love, sharpen each other, lifting each other up and praying for one another. Christianity is not a one-man show, that you should shine alone. Owe no one anything except to love one another, (Romans 13:9). The ability to exhort and build each other up stems from LOVE. One cannot pray for, encourage, motivate or do any good towards a person they do not love. Beloved, God commands us to love as He has loved us and that is the greatest command. If you love a person, you only want what is good for them and only motivate the best out of them. You do whatever is in your power to ensure that they get the best life has to offer. Let us learn to love one another just as Christ loved us. Let us not rejoice in other’s weaknesses but in patience bear with one another. If we can conquer in love then we can conquer in everything.
