The Power That Transforms

The Power That Transforms

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God – 1 Corinthians 1:18.

The message that we preach to you is a living organism, it is not just words, it is the very power of God. Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”  This is the power by which the heavens and the earth were made. It is not supposed to tickle us when preached, it is meant to transform us. It is not the mere preaching of it that transforms, but the reception of and acting on it that does. The power of the message is in its simplicity, it is in its seemingly mundane facade of preaching that the humble are made into giants for God’s sake. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the power to turn a life around.  All by itself in its instruction it is enough to change the world. As a Christian it should rule and run your life. When ingested as the bread of life, it will work in you to the extent that you think of it without trying to think of it, because it becomes a part of you. Holy Spirit works it in us to transform our lives from within. If this isn’t happening to you, if you don’t find yourself going in the opposite direction as you were before your Jesus encounter, then something is wrong. Take stock of your life, if you have received the true gospel of Jesus Christ there should be undeniable traces of His power and glory over your life, if not question, 1 whether you are receiving the real thing? 2 whether you are receptive of the real thing no matter how incalculable it may seem? Or 3 whether you are doing what the true gospel of Jesus Christ requires of you to do?
