So that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes – 2 Corinthians 2:11 NTL.
In this scripture, Paul is addressing the church of Corinth regarding the dangers of unforgiveness. He says that they should be aware, alert at all times of the devices of the devil. Not all devices of the evil one are apparent or obvious, but even on the smallest and unnoticeable things the devil attacks. It is in such things as pride, envy, bitterness, unforgiveness, doubt, division, lust, discouragement and others that the devil gets a leeway into our lives and cause distraction. 1 Peter 5:8, warns us to be alert and of sober mind as our enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone he may devour. The devil hates Christians and Christianity, and he is on a mission to destroy while he still has time. The kingdom of darkness is forever at work, day and night. Therefore let us never put our guards down lest we be caught by surprise.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand against the wiles of the evil one (Ephesians 6: 11-18). We should always remain in truth, righteousness, peace and faith so that we can be able to quench all the fiery darts of the enemy. The wrestle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers and rulers of the darkness of this world. Ours is not to focus on the devil or his demons but to look to God at all times, however in our doing so, let us not be ignorant of his schemes. But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short (Revelations 12:12). Let us be watchful at all times lest we give way to the enemy to devour us.
