Guard Your Heart

Guard Your Heart

Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life –  Proverbs 4:23.

The heart of man is the soil where the seed, the word of God, is planted. A lot of the time, as Christians, we focus so much on the externals and forget the most important thing – the heart. We are to look after our heart diligently against hatred, unforgiveness, envy, strife, lust and the likes.Matthew 15:19 tells us that  out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. This means that if we were to take care of the inside (the heart) the outside will take care of itself. We should allow the Holy Spirit to work on and in our hearts so that when the word of God is preached, read or meditated upon, the seed will find good ground where it is able to grow and bear fruit. The Lord Jesus told a parable in Matthew 13 about seed sown on different kinds of ground; let your heart be found to be the good ground where you will yield a crop of a hundred fold, which I believe is God’s perfect will for His children. Let us guard our hearts and allow the Spirit of God to transform us from the inside out, that we may bear everlasting fruit so that our Father who is in heaven may be glorified.
