We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too! Numbers 13: 33 NLT.
In Christianity your interpretation of God’s word in your life is of utmost importance. What God says about you and its manifestation are dependent on your attitude and willingness to persevere where most would give up. Your attitude influences your confession and whether or not you believe God will fulfil His promises.
Twelve spies were sent out to view the Promised Land and to come back and give report. Same experiences and perceived challenges yet some saw an opportunity while others saw failure. Some believed the land was already theirs while others seemed small to themselves in the eyes of the enemy. Abraham believed God even though he was living in tents in the desert. If you haven’t seen a sandstorm in the desert please Google it. Even in the midst of sandstorms his confession never changed. He pictured (in his mind) the city God would give him, even its foundation (Hebrews 11:9-10). Meanwhile he was sleeping in a tent (imagine the look Sarah would give him during a sandstorm).
These are some examples of people with unwavering faith in the promises of their God. They chose to persevere even when people around them ridiculed them. As a Christian you need to take captive every thought and always confess what God says, always! (2 Corinthians 10:5). We believe therefore we confess, since we too have this same spirit of faith. The measure of maturity in Christianity is in your confession during the storm and not during calm.
