And so we shall all come together to that oneness in our faith and in our knowledge of the Son of God; we shall become mature people, reaching to the very height of Christ’s full stature – Ephesians 4:13 GNT
As we live our lives in conformity to the will in the Word of God, we are doubtless becoming more like Him. All of the bretheren are becoming aligned to the precepts in the Word and this for me, personally, is a yard stick. We all have those moments when our desires seek to override Holy Spirit’s instruction, and in that chaos I just have to look at bretheren whose walk is admirable and testifies of the work of the Spirit in us and I am thus aligned.
Especially when it comes to issues of spiritual fruit and people you may struggle to get along with, it’s easy to say well this is what my love looks like, this is what kindness is to me, when love, patience, kindness etc. has already been defined in Christ for us. Our love, patience, kindness etc. ought to look like Christ’s, that’s how we can know if we are walking in the Word or not.
When we are vested in the Word we are involuntarily becoming like Him, it’s a spiritual spasm. When the detachment of troops showed up in the garden led by Judas to capture Jesus, He had to identify Himself because they coulnd’t tell who among the disciples He was. The disciples were taking after their leader, with all that time spent together with Him their speech, their demeanour, their stature was hot on the heels of the person of Christ. So are we living lives sold out in pursuit of Christ-likeness, we are becoming more and more like Him.
