That I May Know Him

And eternal life means to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, whom you sent – John 17:3 GNT.

Apostle Paul was used amazingly by God and his letters to this very day form the backbone of the new covenant teachings. His encounter with God was divine and his revelation was through the Holy Spirit. So this man knew God and yet in Philippians 3:10 he says ‘that I may know him’.

With all his revelations he still felt that he hadn’t attained his goal of really knowing him. He even emphasises that he will press on till he gets hold of it. Christ during the prayer reveals that eternal life is to know God and the One He sent. No one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him (Matthew 11:27). The goal is to truly know the Son and He will reveal the Father.

How well do I know the Father? How well do I know the Son? How deep have I gone in my pursuit to really know Him? To know the power of His resurrection and participation in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death. I want to know Him, Holy Spirit please take me deeper because my soul yearns for Him.

The goal is to truly know the Son and He will reveal the Father
