Read 1 Thessalonians 2:10-12.
V12, “that your daily lives should not embarrass God but bring joy to him who invited you into his Kingdom to share his glory,” TLB.
As a father the apostle Paul is getting real with the fairly new believers of Thessalonica. He is not missing any opportunity to emphasize to them the authenticity of the Gospel, of those entrusted by GOD to preach it and of those that receive and believe it. The Gospel is pure, and so should those that preach it and those that hear it. He says they were gentle to them as a nursing mother cherishes her young and fatherly in comforting, exhorting and instructing them to live right before GOD and the world as Christians.
He says in verse 12 that they should walk worthy and not embarrass GOD in their daily lives, but bring joy to Him as One who invited them into His Kingdom to share His glory. Now that’s worth thinking about, Not to embarrass GOD. Wow! It really matters how we live our lives. Apostle Paul says we, “charged every one of you, as a father does his own children, that you would walk worthy of God.” Have you received a fatherly counsel on how you ought to live your daily life before GOD your Father? As a matter of fact, every infant believer should receive this counsel. What counsel, if at all, did you receive on how you ought to live life as a Christian? If you never received this, you must. GOD is the One “who invited you into his Kingdom to share his glory,” so it’s His Kingdom and His rules – nothing of yours! There is no doing as you please in the Kingdom or Christianity. Everything must be according to congruency and conformity to established rules, principles and standards.
