Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest – Matthew 11:28.
Jesus talked about worry and anxiety more than a few times in the Bible, and He reminds us of how much GOD loves us, and how He wants to give us rest. To fully find rest in GOD, we will have to be humble before Him. Humbleness is realizing we can’t prevail by trusting in ourselves and our own efforts. Rather we trust in GOD, appreciative that He is able to do what we can’t.
I have discovered that most of the times when I feel baffled, it is on the grounds that I am applying physical effort in an attempt to accomplish something that no one but GOD can do. Works of the flesh can never result in satisfaction, and are a clear indication that I am working without GOD. Most disappointment originates from attempting to get things done by one’s own strength without depending on GOD.
We can only carry on conquering and being upbeat in life when we understand GOD enables those who realize they can’t support themselves, those who acknowledge they are absolutely reliant on Him and are thankful that He will give them all that they need. GOD wants to give us rest, but He can’t do that if we are still proud and have so much confidence in ourselves and our abilities. It is in our nothingness that GOD is able to work in us, for us and through us.
