How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone – James 4:14 NLT.
I’m sure we’ve all heard it being said that on a tombstone there are two dates separated by a dash: your birthdate, dash, death date. Out of these three, the only one we have a bit of control over is the dash. We all have been given a short time on earth and it is our decisions that will ultimately decide our destination when that second date comes. It all begins with a decision for Jesus, followed by a daily decision to follow Him along the narrow path already set out.
The writer in Ecclesiastes says, “The last and final word is this: Fear God. Do what he tells you. And that’s it. Eventually God will bring everything that we do out into the open and judge it according to its hidden intent, whether it’s good or evil,” Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 MSG. Jesus came that we may have life, and have it in abundance to the full, till it overflows (John 10:10b AMP). Choose Jesus, He is the only One who can guarantee you a victorious, abundant and fulfilling life here on earth and eternal life in the life to come.
What are you doing with your dash? I’m sure that if you are like me, you’ve missed the mark and fallen countless times but the word of GOD tells us that a righteous man may fall seven times and rises again and again (Proverbs 24:16a). We are only here for a little while, let us do the Master’s work before, like the morning fog, our lives are gone. Make the most of the dash because time and chance have been given to all of us (Ecclesiastes 9:11).
