God gives such beauty to everything that grows in the fields, even though it is here today and thrown into a fire tomorrow. God will surely do even more for you! Why do you have such little faith? – Matthew 6:30 CEV.
My daughter decided that she wanted a tricycle for Christmas. She asked me to buy it for her, well let me correct that: she expected me to buy it for her. Every day after school she would look for it in every room, every day without fail. Even when she didn’t find it on that day, she would look for it the next day with an expectation that it would be there. She was like the persistent widow and me the judge (Luke 18:1-8), I was worn out and gave into her demands.
Many times we pray and believe GOD will grant us our desires, and believe that we have the patience to wait. We even have Scriptures that encourage our wait (Hebrews 6:12). As days and weeks go by we start to doubt if we’ll get what we prayed for. We start to worry and make contingency plans just in case our breakthrough doesn’t come. The Bible calls this lack of faith and we know that without faith it is impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6).
If GOD can provide for birds without fail, how much more will He do for us who are made in His image and likeness? My daughter does not stress about what she will eat next year because she has never slept on an empty stomach, the thought of starving has never crossed her mind. I don’t even think she knows what it is to starve because that is her father’s worry, her duty is to be a child. She plays her role and I play mine. GOD wants us to play our role and leave the rest to Him (Matthew 6:33).
In what areas of your life are you acting as an adult before GOD instead of acting as a child? What areas are you holding on to instead of surrendering them to Him? Unless you are a child in these areas GOD will not take over.
GOD wants us to play our role and leave the rest to Him – Matthew 6:33
