Is it not amazing that in most instances in Scripture exaltation or honor is preceded by humility? Humble yourself then under the mighty hand of GOD and He will lift you up (1 Peter5:6). For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all those who humble themselves will be exalted (Luke 14:11). In Philippians 2, Apostle Paul is addressing the church, advising them to adopt the character of Christ which is humility. He says that Christ, who being in the same nature as GOD made Himself nothing. It is after Jesus had made Himself nothing that GOD exalted Him to the highest place.
Humbling yourself doesn’t mean that you are nothing or worthless. Humility is not thinking less of yourself but rather thinking of yourself less. Humility is selflessness, considering others better than yourself, and devoting yourself to serving them. GOD shows favor to the humble (James 4:6). It would then appear to me that the more we humble ourselves, the more GOD exalts us; the more we think of ourselves less, the more GOD thinks highly of us; the more we devote ourselves to serving others, the more GOD devotes Himself to taking care of our needs.
We all desire God’s rescuing, His favor and His honor. We desire for GOD to prosper us, we want to rise and be exalted, and He wants that for us too. The level to which we rise will be determined by our willingness to humble ourselves before Him. He crowns the humble with victory.
The more we think of ourselves less and devote ourselves to serving others, the more GOD thinks highly of us and devote Himself to taking care of our needs
