Refer 1 Kings 18
When one receives a promise (word or prophecy), from the LORD, it’s naturally followed by a problem and process before provision (or manifestation). Almost always when we receive a promise or prophecy from on high it is challenged by the kingdom of darkness. The Word does say that trials or tribulations come because of the word. So a word from the LORD attracts attack from satan. This is the problem that follows the promise. In Samaria, there were at least two problems that needed to be eradicated before manifestation of the prophecy from GOD to send rain in the land. King Ahab and his family had misled the nation into idol worship of Baals.
Secondly, the people were confused between two deities and living in unbelief towards GOD, to which Elijah challenged them, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God follow Him, but if Baal, follow him.” Through Elijah the LORD dealt decisively with these problems at the top of Mount Carmel. It’s the same with us, for the manifestation of the word or prophecy to take place we’ll have to deal with the issue/s that are hindering GOD from operating in our lives. For the people of Samaria it was idolatry and unbelief. What is hindering the LORD from working for you? Remember 2 Chronicles 16:9, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…”
Promise, problem, then process. The LORD takes us through a process that leads to provision or manifestation of the promise or word of prophecy. He took the Israelites through a process before abundant rain could come in the midst of severe famine. They had to renounce the worship of Baals and turn their hearts back to Jehovah. The people answered not a word when confronted and challenged by prophet Elijah as to which deity they wanted to worship, GOD or Baal. However, after the LORD had manifested Himself through His prophet, the people replied emphatically in chorus, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!” 1 Kings 18:39. Before this change of heart happened, the LORD had to take the people through a refining process.
Oh, let us not resist God’s refining processes in our lives, because they’re precursors of the deliverance, breakthrough and blessings we desire. The hand of the LORD is not short that He cannot save, bless or deliver, but He’s looking for obedience and faith. There is a process of refining, realigning and reordering to His will, purpose and plan, before the sound of the abundance of rain becomes a reality. Otherwise, it remains just a sound. Clouds have to form, and empty themselves upon us – as GOD promised. It says ‘the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain’. Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain. The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain (Zechariah 10:1).
It’s the same with us, for the manifestation of the word or prophecy to take place we’ll have to deal with the issue/s that are hindering GOD from operating in our lives
