For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also – Matthew 6:21 NKJV.
Jesus said that He must work the works of Him who sent Him while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work (John 9:4). Since He is our example, we too must work the works while we still can. These works are the works which GOD has prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10). The fruit of these works is souls; we are called to win souls because the only thing we can take with us to heaven is souls.
This I believe is where a lot of us as believers are lacking because we want to build our own kingdoms here on earth, even though the word of GOD tells us not to lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal but to lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Since the works are already prepared for us to walk in them, all we need to do is to check our heart’s motives and attitude while doing the works; we ought to be in faith and our faith working through love. We must strive to be faithful in what we have been entrusted with (gifts and talents) for the salvation of souls because each one’s work will become clear, for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is (1 Corinthians 3:13). Where is your treasure? Because where your treasure is, that’s where your heart will be also.
We are called to win souls because the only thing we can take with us to heaven is souls
