Luke 9:23 NKJV
No matter what comes up against us we must make a decision every day that we will not give up. Christianity is not religion but a relationship with GOD and a life to be lived. GOD knew that it was not going to be easy but says we must take up our cross daily and follow Him. Even though there might be trouble all around us, there is reassurance from the LORD in the Scriptures. We might be puzzled by all the things that happen to us, but we do not despair. Though we are tempted and persecuted, we are not forsaken or forgotten. We might even be struck down, but we are not destroyed or defeated. A fall is not the end of the road. We must be determined not to give up and quit. No one can ever take your place in GOD, or your divine purpose – the reason He formed you from dust and commissioned you to earth. You are indispensable to your ever-loving Father. He will not allow your foot to be moved, He who keeps you will not slumber.
Do not allow feeling of fear, defeat, rejection, hopelessness and depression. You are still a child of GOD regardless of what you feel. Besides, these things come to all of us. Prophet Elijah was at the crest of his ministry when fear drove him away from the epicenter of God’s will to wandering in the wilderness. He felt like a failure as a servant, rejected by Israel he loved so dearly for whom he was jealous to return to the LORD; he felt hopeless and sank into a deep state of depression to which he earnestly prayed to GOD that he might die. In his mind he saw vividly what Jezebel was determined to do to him, all of which was but mere threat.
Do you see how dangerous are the things we feel? And how far they can take us? Christianity is not a feeling; it is a life of faith to be lived daily. It is incumbent on us to rein our thoughts and feelings in every single time. Otherwise, they may run wild with us, as it happened with Elijah. Do not listen to the voice of satan. His voice is of fear, defeat, failure, accusation, condemnation, anxiety, panic, quitting, etc. He lies from his own resources; he is a liar and the inventor of it.
Whatever state we may be in or find ourselves right now, let’s get up and get a move on. GOD is far from finished with us. He still has purpose and use for us. So let’s not stop fighting the good fight of faith and move forward. Let us learn the valuable lessons from the vicissitudes of our journey, and refuse to slow down, to be distracted, or to stop. Whatever you do keep moving forward and don’t look back from whence you came. There is nothing for you there in relation to your spiritual journey, only useless ruins. There is therefore now no condemnation for you. He who has begun a good work in you will complete it. You have no reason to stop or write yourself off, because He makes all things work together for the sake of your calling and purpose in Him. He has made you victorious over all the circumstances of life.
When you are going through rafts of challenges take a leaf from David who encouraged and strengthened himself in his GOD. David had such a horrid time pursuing his destiny in the LORD. He must have learnt pretty early that difficult times are part and parcel of our walk with GOD. Christianity is in cycles, stages or seasons. Sometimes we find ourselves in great stead, and feel strong and confident. Yet sometimes we find ourselves at a low ebb gasping for survival. But be it as it may, Christianity is not about how we feel, what is happening with us or the state we are in in life. Christianity is one perpetual victory parade in Christ. Against all the lies the devil cooks up, stand strong. He is lying to you. You are already an overcomer, you are victorious over him and everything he’s got. Don’t fear the devil; the devil fears you. Get up and continue moving. It’s not yet over!
