Understanding My Spring & Winter

Understanding My Spring & Winter

They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?” Exodus 14:11 NIV.

The Israelites were very miserable in Egypt and cried out for years to be removed from that land. They had been suffering for years and when Moses came along and promised them freedom they thought that he was an answer to all their prayers. When they left to begin their journey to the Promised Land they thought that was the last persecution they will ever face. Imagine their shock when they realized they were still being pursued by the vast army. Why would GOD take us out of Egypt just to finish us off here? We’d rather be buried in a country were our descendants know our final resting place than be buried in the desert and our remains be lost forever.

The problem with them was that they couldn’t see past their current predicament. They were consumed by the challenge and not by what GOD was up to. They lacked discernment of what GOD was doing in the spirit and were preoccupied by what they perceived as their end. Moses knew and understood what was going on and hence he was not shaken. He told them that the problem/disaster/predicament they saw then they would never see again (vv. 13-14). He already knew the end and he was at peace because his spiritual eyes were open.

Like the Israelites I have experienced this bizarre works of GOD of allowing you to go through challenges that He Himself called you into. He may tell you to leave your job and start a business. A year into the business you don’t make profit and your assets are repossessed by the bank [why did You take me out of Egypt (job/relationship) only to make me suffer here in the desert (business/marriage?)]. Someone wise once said during a storm he doesn’t care about what is happening to him but his only concern is what GOD is saying about the storm.

The secret in Christianity is to always know what GOD is saying about your situation/s. The secret is to discern the season you are in and to have understanding of what is happening and what GOD is doing. So the next time when the storm comes just be still and seek to have understanding of what GOD is doing. His peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:7).

The secret is to discern the season you are in and to have understanding of what is happening and what GOD is doing
