“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.” – Ephesians 4:11-12 NLT
I’ve always said that my biggest fear in my faith walk is to succeed in the wrong thing, this is because it means that I have succeeded in the area that I wanted to and not the one that GOD called me to. This is one of the biggest traps that believers fall into, the Bible tells us clearly that we are different parts of the same body (1 Corinthians 12). GOD plants and uproots according to His will and purpose and only a believer who is truly submitted will move when GOD says move or stay when GOD says stay. Submission should not be a problem for a truly born again Christian because they understand that their life is no longer their own.
Jesus calls us His sheep, some of the qualities that sheep possess are those of humility, meekness, gentleness and they listen and show esteem to their leaders. I believe these are some of the qualities that result in a successful Christian walk, because we understand that Christianity is God’s idea, the kingdom is God’s kingdom and we are there to be led and not to build our own mini kingdoms and lead ourselves. GOD Himself has given us shepherds after His own heart to lead us with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15).
These shepherds are gifts from GOD to us, the church, the body of Christ, to equip us for His work and to build up the church. We all have giftings and special abilities, but these are not to make us superstars but rather for us to submit them back to GOD and serve the body with them. “Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name,(Philippians 2:9 AMPC). There is only one superstar in the kingdom and His name is Jesus!
We all have giftings and special abilities, but these are not to make us superstars but rather for us to submit them back to GOD and serve the body with them.
