“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” – Matthew 7:24 NIV
As Christians, our walk has to mirror that of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are expected to live lives that are worthy of the gospel that we have received. Part of it is always putting on the full armor of God to prepare us to fight battles. The full armor should always be ready and so that we don’t have to pause and put it on whenever it is required. What Christ was emphasizing in the above scripture is that when you apply God’s word and His principles in your life, the armor is automatically applied, it is always on you (like Hulk in the endgame and unlike Spider-Man who has to go into a corner to put on his armor). When David was about to fight against Goliath, everyone around him was busy obsessing about putting armor on him. They were convinced that for the current challenge to be overcome he needed the full armor. What they did not know then was that David’s armour was always on him. Whether he was herding livestock, fighting a lion or a bear he was always clothed for battle. He understood that the weapons to fight these spiritual battles are not of this world.
A man or woman who is always clothed with this invinsible armour is seen by their fruits (Matthew 7:16). When you apply God’s word in your life the fruits are evident, even non-believers can see them clearly. So my focus should not be how to put on this armour but how to apply biblical principles in my life, then without realizing the armour is in place. The Word as the sword of the spirit has power over the other components of the armour (the ring that rules them all: The Precious). You can fight a war with a sword but you can’t with just a shield. It’s the application of the Word, you need not stress about whether you have a shield or a belt, then everything else falls into place.
“All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being.“ (John 1:3 BLB). It is the Word that we need to spend time on, meditating and applying it. Then these uncircumcised philistines and challenges will be put in their place.
