(Compiled by Pastor Vuyani Dombo)
The devil hates us because he hates GOD and he hates everything about GOD. He therefore only has one plan: to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). If we are still chasing the things of this world, the devil uses the very same things to kill us. We are tossed to and fro by the devil when we are not seeking GOD but seeking things. If we are still bound by sin, we are dead, so if we are not fully in the Kingdom of light, we are in the kingdom of darkness. The illusion of the devil is that we can sit on the fence, but there is no middle ground.
The LORD is here to give us abundance where the devil is stealing, killing, and destroying. This abundance comes with the liberation GOD gives us, but it is only when we abide in the Word of God that we will know the truth, and it is this truth that sets us free (John 8:31-32 AMP). If we are to be truly liberated, we should not fit Jesus into our lives, but our lives should fit in Jesus. We only need to remove everything that is moving us away from Him. When the Samaritan woman encountered Jesus by the well (John 4:9-10), just like many people today, she felt like nothing, with nothing to offer Jesus. However, if we knew Him who is asking that we give Him everything today, we would ask Him, and He would give us living water which makes us whole. We are being called to give all of ourselves to Jesus, because anything outside of Him is nothing but a trap.
There is nothing in this world that can satisfy our insatiable needs. Our needs give birth to more needs, things call for more things, and it is all just vanity. On the contrary, what Jesus gives us keeps bubbling in us, making us new every single day (John 4:13-14). The devil therefore does not want us to focus on the truth of the Word of God, but he keeps us in the things of this world that we may remain in bondage. True worshippers worship the Father in spirit and in TRUTH (John 4:23-24). We can lie to each other and to ourselves, but we cannot lie to GOD. Anything that we do without truth is in vain. If our desire for GOD does not exceed our desire for things, we are not worshipping in truth. The Holy Spirit, when He is in us, He leads us to truth, because it is the truth of GOD that sets us free. While it is our mandate to bring others to Christ, the only way people can follow us to Christ is when they see change in us, and this transformation is impossible outside of truth.
If we are to be truly liberated, we should not fit Jesus into our lives, but our lives should fit in Jesus.
