“I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” – Isaiah 43:19b
In the medical field and especially private practice, we know that business is slow towards the end of the year. This is because most people have exhausted their medical aid and they shy away from consulting because it means that they have to use their own money to pay for a consultation. Every doctor makes provisions for this dry season and prepares accordingly. In the above scripture, GOD says that the opposite of what we consider the norm (1 Corinthians 1:19).
The definition of wilderness is “an uncultivated, uninhabited, and inhospitable region”. Yet GOD is saying He will make a way in this inhospitable region. He promises to prosper you or come through for you in a time where you do not expect Him to do so. He will come through in a season people consider dry and impossible to get a breakthrough. A desert cannot have a river yet GOD promises to make one for you, He normally wouldn’t but because it’s you, He will [He is doing a new thing (vs 19a)]. He Himself knows the way in the wilderness shouldn’t be there, knows the river can’t exist in the desert yet He is promising to defy ‘nature’ to prosper/take care of you.
Genesis 13: 5-12 Abram and Lot had to part ways and Lot had to choose which way to go. He chose the ‘better’ land and left Abram the ‘undesired’ land. Yet GOD made a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert for His faithful son. In this season your colleagues or enemies might assign the difficult task hoping that you’ll fail, yet because you serve a living GOD, who will make a way, you will excel and glorify your maker (who knows there might just be a promotion in it for you).
For me, in the medical space, I must prepare myself for a feast, I must expand my habitat and stretch out my tents for I’m about to dine in the presence of my enemies. What area in your life theoretically can’t break through now? This is the area GOD promises to make a way. Put him to the test, “He is not a man that He should…”
