If You Are Powerless You Are Prayerless

If You Are Powerless You Are Prayerless

“Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart” – Luke 18:1.

There is no substitute for prayer! It’s like the new phenomenon of making slap chips with sweet potato, it’s interesting, it’s cute, but it is not by any means slap chips. Slap chips are made with potatoes, the normal ones, not the ones with prefixes and suffixes. Everybody makes slap chips, all over the world, because slap chips are the truth. We don’t want sweet potato slap chips, stop it, please! There are even carrot slap chips, this is exhausting, because yes it is creative, but the day the ‘inventor’ decided to put those potatoes in some oil, magic happened! (I think I have digressed). Prayer is miraculous, GOD says come and talk to me and I will answer you, 2 Chronicles 7:14 (I desire the ability to explain how mind-blowing that is).

I am discovering that GOD is very personal, He is incredibly personal. He knows what we want and need (Matthew 6:8), and knows that if He just hands it to us He won’t see us, we will be preoccupied with things and not keep in touch with Him. Even though that has its own implications, He makes a way for a meeting between Himself and us. Needless to say, we are not going to be able to achieve anything without prayer anyway. There are certain things that will not move unless we intensify in prayer. Prayer is the foundation, prayer is a constant. Like with singing, if you don’t get your breathing right you are going to struggle, and if you don’t do breathing exercises for a short while and say ‘okay, I have been there, I have done that, I have got the T-shirt, moving on to other things’, that is a lie, you don’t move on from doing breathing exercises, they are the foundation, they are a constant, you keep doing them forever, you don’t get the T-shirt! There’s no moving on from prayer, it is a muscle that should be stretched and exercised daily to keep fit!

Prayer avails much for us! I want to share part of what I learned in this particular teaching;

• Prayer is the will of God

• Prayer must be your daily habit (no feelings attached)

• We pray to submit our will to GOD

• We pray to war in the spirit

• Prayer gives us power

• Prayer is a discipline

Prayer is the foundation, prayer is a constant
