“When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”” – Psalms 27:8 NKJV
It is often said that if you can touch the heart of GOD, you will get His hand (1 Corinthian 2:9). 2020 has been a year of introspection, a year where one had to really sit down and think about what it is that really matters. The man of God on Sunday asked such a sobering question, he asked, what is it that you are really after? And further went on to say, let your heart answer you. GOD knows everything and every heart, this message was not a message of condemnation but rather one of love and an invitation for us to seek Him for Him, in truth.
It is very easy for us to put on an outward show and play church but the key is the heart, “For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart”(I Samuel 16:7). GOD wants to set our hearts on fire for Him and for us to have a loving relationship with him, and when this happens there is no good thing that He will withhold from us. 1 John 4:19 tells us that we love Him because He first loved us, let us respond to His invitation, receive His love that we may love Him.
“After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.””(Genesis 15:1). He is our exceedingly great reward, when we have Him, we have everything that we need. There’s nothing in this world that can truly satisfy, even money, I’m yet to hear someone say, “I’ve got more than enough money”, even the wealthiest people in the world are still working for more. The invite to seek GOD is still available, may the LORD set our hearts on fire that we may respond like the psalmist and say “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”
