Jesus Christ. Our End-All & Be-All

Jesus Christ. Our End-All & Be-All

Sunday Message Summary, 7 February 2021

After 12 years of suffering, the woman with the issue of blood was truly at the end of herself, knowing that a miracle had to happen. She knew in her heart that if Jesus truly is the Son of God and is as powerful as His followers say He is, then she only needed to lay hold of a piece of Him and she would be healed (Mark 5:25-34). This is the kind of faith that GOD is asking from us today – to lay hold of Jesus. Sometimes our problems need to get us to the point of realization that we only need to lay hold of Jesus. The woman only wanted a piece of Jesus, not looking to be laid hands upon nor to be preached to. It is the power that is in the name of Jesus that changes all situations, so we need to draw from that power, but it will take humility for us to fall at the feet of Jesus, being honest about what we are going through.

It is often in desperation that we truly seek GOD. When we seek GOD for comfort, if we get that comfort (including money and riches) we may end up doing the things of GOD only out of routine. Money and accolades can open doors in this world, but there are doors that they cannot open. Jesus is the only way, and the only key to GOD and eternal life. Like the rich, young ruler, many are not willing to give up everything and follow Jesus Christ because they think they already have everything (Mark 10:19-22). However, until Jesus is our end-all and be-all, there will always be a gap. It is difficult to enter the Kingdom of God when we are still holding on to other things except Christ (Mark 10:25), but when He is in the centre, we are following the right direction. To follow Christ, we must take up our cross daily. For many believers, it even comes to a point when we feel like we have given up everything for Christ, yet things are becoming more difficult, however Jesus assures and promises us that there is no one who has given up everything for His sake who will not receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, and eternal life in the age to come (Mark 10:28-30 AMP). When we go through the most, we must hold Christ to this promise which is the love of GOD.

When we look at everything around us, there is so much that can make us start losing faith in GOD. We need to be careful in such times not to turn away from the living GOD. As long as there is still breath in us, we need to help one another as believers every day, because we are all partners with Christ only if we hold firmly to the end (Hebrews 3:12-14). We have come so far, so let us not forget why we surrendered our lives and chose Christ in the first place. When Christ is the end-all and be-all in our lives, we know that there is nothing out in the world for us. Christ is calling us to follow Him to the end. We look for solutions everywhere, in places that we trust and are holding on to, however Jesus Christ is the only solution that works in everything we go through. It is Christ at the beginning, and Christ at the end.

Jesus assures and promises us that there is no one who has given up everything for His sake who will not receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, and eternal life in the age to come.
