“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” – Romans 8:14 KJV
In light of recent events about people coming forward to share their harrowing ordeals at the hands of pastors and their churches on national television, one cannot but agonize. More so these painful experiences are told by people who went through them themselves, and in most cases know others who went through similar. The Scripture says as many as are led by the Spirit are sons of God. Of course, this is one such Scripture we tend to assume we know very well. It may be, however, whether we know it in reality or by experience is a subject for another day.
Let me try to elucidate. We’re born again by the Spirit through faith in Christ into the kingdom of God. The Spirit comes and indwells us. Why? Because we need Him 24/7, He is a believer’s lifeblood, without Him we have no fellowship or even contact with GOD. Without Him we have not the present, living, powerful reality of the kingdom of God. Holy Spirit is the only contact and access into the kingdom of God, into GOD, and into Christ. So it is He alone who must of critical necessity lead the children of God here on earth.
Now as you can see, not only are we born again by the power of the Holy Ghost into the kingdom of God but we must be led by Him on a consistent basis. Agreeably, the Spirit cannot lead us to harm one another. People harm one another or others where the Spirit is ignored or absent. Now we can assume with a great degree of safety that pastors or churches that systematically harm, abuse or prey on people are out of sync with GOD and His Spirit.
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God,” so effectively these are not led by the Spirit and so they’re not the sons of God, but sons of disobedience whose judgment has not been idle and their damnation does not slumber: “And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not,” 2 Peter 2:3 KJV.
The world is fraught with false prophets and teachers, the proverbial wolves in sheep’s clothing. “They come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves,” Matthew 7:15 NLT. They appear to be genuine, but on the inside they are heartless phonies who lie, cheat, steal, rape, and deceive. If possible, as far as it depends on the people, let them be exposed and their shrines not patronized anymore. They must be put out of business as a matter of urgency. These are serial fraudsters and rapists who do so with impunity and get off scot-free to continue doing business as usual. Unimaginably absurd, if you ask me.
