“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” – Proverbs 4:23 NIV
“and do not give the devil a foothold. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:27, 31-32 NIV
In this Christian walk, we have only one adversary and the one thing that he has mastered is to get us to see each other as the enemy. We have left our hearts unguarded by taking in things that were not meant for our consumption. Unfortunately, our adversary has been around for a very long time and he understands that things we take in are like seeds. They might seem innocent but in the long run, grow to be weeds that choke the word of God. These could be seeds of doubt, fear, resentment, and the likes. The word of God instructs us to guard our hearts and further tells us the reason why, it’s because everything we do flows from it.
“Watch over each other to make sure that no one misses the revelation of GOD’s grace. And make sure no one lives with a root of bitterness sprouting within them which will only cause trouble and poison the hearts of many.” Hebrews 12:15 TPT. We are tasked to watch over one another, to pray for one another, and most importantly love one another. The word of God cannot lie, when you have been poisoned, you’re bound to poison others because out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.
“Confess and acknowledge how you have offended one another and then pray for one another to be instantly healed, for tremendous power is released through the passionate, heartfelt prayer of a godly believer!” James (Jacob) 5:16 TPT. GOD resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5), if truly we have the love of God, we will try by all means to put things right with those that we have offended and those that have offended us. We must not give the devil a foothold because we know that he has only come to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10).
Unfortunately, our adversary has been around for a very long time and he understands that things we take in are like seeds. They might seem innocent but in the long run, grow to be weeds that choke the word of God.
