“Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh…” – II Corinthians 5:16a NKJV

“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.” Romans 8:9a NKJV

As born-again children of God, we have a new identity, one that is spiritual in nature. This identity is in Christ. When GOD looks at us, He no longer sees the old sinful, destined for destruction, us, but He sees His Son, Jesus. So when we approach GOD as born-again children of God, He sees His Son, Jesus. This is how GOD sees us, and this is how we ought to see ourselves. Many of us struggle with this truth because of our shortcomings and mistakes, we often fall into condemnation and even question whether we are born again or not.

“But if [you are living] by the [power of the Holy] Spirit you are habitually putting to death the sinful deeds of the body, you will [really] live forever. For all who are allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” Romans 8:13b-14 AMP. This Christian walk is a journey where perfection eludes all of us. The more we know and we walk in the reality of who we are, the more the flesh is put to death. This is a lifelong battle that should keep us on our knees in surrender to the Holy Spirit.

Victory for us is certain! When we fall, we should run to GOD, repent, get back up and keep moving forward. The word of God tells us that a righteous man falls seven times and gets up (Proverbs 24:16a). I believe we were sent the Holy Spirit because Jesus knew that we would need a helper and a guide for us to navigate through life. He is the One who helps us and reminds us who we are in GOD. So next time the enemy throws condemnation your way, simply remind him that “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus”.

Victory for us is certain! When we fall, we should run to GOD, repent, get back up and keep moving forward.
