Remember Who You Are

Remember Who You Are

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” – John 14:26 NKJV

I remember many years ago reading somewhere that, before we come to Earth we are given our assignment and the reasons for coming down. So while in Heaven, we know exactly who we are and understand where we come from. As much as that was a cute story to me then, as a believer, John 14:26 makes me understand that when we receive the Holy Spirit, He not only brings to our remembrance all of the things we were told in Heaven by Christ, but He also teaches us all that we need to know regarding our time on this Earth. By receiving Him we become new creations and begin to understand that even though we are in the world, we are not of the world. We no longer attach ourselves to the things in it but instead become members of a true Kingdom family guided by Him in all things.

Even though we go through troubles and trials on this earth, life is not meant to be a struggle lived in perpetual defeat. By submitting to the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit, we open ourselves up to endless possibilities and understandings. In the Spirit, we may start off as babies, but we cannot remain in that state forever. “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,”1 Peter 2:2 NIV. Our salvation is dependent on growth. Just as all things living must grow, so must we grow spiritually. True growth comes from consuming pure milk which is the undiluted Word of God. Yes, at first when we start reading, the Word is hard to understand and that is because it is still milk to us which is really what a child can handle in order to grow. But the more the Holy Spirit gives us revelation and understanding the more that very same Word now becomes solid meat to a child of God. It takes consuming solids to grow in strength and power.

We need the Word of God to live in us and to grow us. There’s no point in wanting spiritual gifts and powers outside of the Holy Spirit. He is the one who works all wonders in and through us. “And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength,” Ephesians 1:19 AMPC. EVERYTHING our spirit, soul, and body need to grow is dependent on being led and taught by the Holy Spirit. There is no greater or more powerful teacher than Him. Attempting to bypass Him for anointing and powers is now invoking other spirits which are outside of Christ. Let us be perfected by growing in the spirit. Holy Spirit forms the nature, the personality, and the person of Jesus Christ in us as we grow in the spirit, we begin to live a life that is not only worthy of GOD but pleasing to HIM.

EVERYTHING our spirit, soul, and body need to grow is dependent on being led and taught by the Holy Spirit
