When Christ ascended, He didn’t leave us in a vacuum, He gave us His Holy Spirit, the Bible says that He is the Spirit of counsel (John 14:26). He teaches us all things and He does it through the Word of God. So, you don’t have to grab an educational book to be equipped to live the spiritual life, you have the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. You have to do what the Holy Spirit and the Word says to be a fruitful believer. The secret is not outside the confines of the Word, it is the Word itself that gives life, it is the Word of God lived, acted out, practiced that is the assurance of living in the blessedness of salvation. It’s not what comes to mind in the midst of a circumstance that will help you in time of need, it is the Word and the Spirit coming to mind that will help. Did you know that if you were in a life and death situation and instead of giving a care, you walked ‘away’ from it, went and fellowshipped with the Word, worship, and prayer in the Spirit, you have assurance of victory in that circumstance than if you ran around making phone calls and talking to anyone who would listen?!!
So first things first, the fruit of the Spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23. Fruit-bearing is where Christianity is at. Look at the fruit of the Spirit and look at your life and find congruence. Working on these attributes is a sure way of making one’s place in eternity with GOD according to 2 Peter 1:10-11, “Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” This Scripture is a lot but as far as I am concerned it simplifies salvation. We are saved to be like Christ, and Peter who walked with Christ, saw Him, touched Him, heard Him, says this is it. Do this and you will see the power the glory and the majesty (2 Peter 1:16).
