Nevertheless…

Nevertheless…

“For even though He was crucified in weakness [yielding Himself], yet He lives [resurrected] by the power of God [His Father]. For we too are weak in Him [as He was humanly weak], yet we are alive and well [in fellowship] with Him because of the power of God directed toward you.” – 2 Corinthians 13:4 AMP

It is general knowledge that the main reason satan was kicked out of Heaven is because he wanted to establish his own kingdom in the Kingdom of God. The ridiculousness of that plan cannot be overemphasized, as it would be like visiting someone’s home and then calling a family meeting to let them know how things will be working going forward. So while we are judging the concept, let’s look at ourselves for a second. Every time we insist on our will being done on Earth, we are doing exactly the same thing. The Earth belongs to GOD and as His creation, He created us for Himself and for His purpose. The world might not know this but as believers, we have entered into a covenant with Christ to be completely surrendered to Him and to be a living sacrifice to His will. In other words, we die to self so that He may rise in us.

One of the hardest things to do when praying is to sincerely and completely surrender our will. Generally, we like having a sense of control over our lives to have a sense of security and what we interpret as peace of mind. However, if we then say GOD is all-knowing and Almighty, would it not make better sense to allow His perfect will to be done in our lives? If we still experience resistance to praying how Jesus prayed at Gethsemane, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Luke 22:42 NKJV. It means that we are still fearful about living out God’s perfect will and we are being ruled by the flesh. GOD can only help us with what we admit and surrender to Him. We must decide in our hearts that EVEN IF we feel the resistance when praying for GOD’s will for our lives, we will still choose to say “Nevertheless….Your will be done.” This shows honesty and humility before the LORD. Yes, I am nervous about relinquishing control, but I am choosing to surrender and allow GOD to have His way in my life.

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20 KJV. Living a life that is a sacrifice to and for GOD is a daily decision. Many don’t fully get there, but we are expected to keep trying and to keep dying to self. It is the only way we can be useful vessels to the LORD. Vessels He can fill with His Spirit and use according to His purpose.

We must decide in our hearts that EVEN IF we feel the resistance when praying for GOD’s will for our lives, we will still choose to say “Nevertheless….Your will be done.”
