Sing, O Barren Woman

Sing, O Barren Woman

Sunday Message Summary, 24 April 2022

Most of the time, when we receive the Word of God, we first receive it with gladness and excitement. However, when the promises are not happening, many begin accusing GOD, His servants, and the church, and they start chasing alternatives. According to Isaiah 54:1, in our state of barrenness, we should sing and shout for joy. When we are in a state of barrenness, we need to be the most active. We must praise GOD for what we do not have. Though in the physical we may not see the promise fulfilled, we should praise the LORD and not wait for the physical to celebrate. However, we must recall everything GOD has promised us (1 Timothy 1:18), which is an intentional process. Without recalling the prophecies, we place ourselves at a disadvantage.

Amid our challenges, what are we saying? Our confession of faith in the midst of bad report, during the storm, in the absence of anything, moves GOD. However, before we can have victory, we must first see it (Joshua 6:2). We must first see the promise, and in the process of receiving the promise, we need both intention and persistence (Matthew 9:20-22), which are dependent on us. When we have faith, we must have hope, and on top of that hope we need to have the confidence. Faith is therefore not hoping for things, but it is the confidence in what we hope for (Hebrews 11:1 NIV), not leaving room for disappointment.

Faith does not make sense to the world, so every time we confess the Word of faith, it will be challenged. The world does not understand why we are still holding on to the Word of God, not knowing that the power lies in the waiting, the hoping, and trusting in GOD (1 Corinthians 1:18). We speak the things that are not as though they were, praising GOD now, seeing what GOD has promised before we have it. Sing, O barren woman! “More are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the LORD.

Our confession of faith in the midst of bad report, during the storm, in the absence of anything, moves GOD.
