What Does It All Mean…

What Does It All Mean…

“It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the Word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.” – Hebrews‬ ‭6:4-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let me start this write-up off with a young confession. So my spirit understands what Christ did on the cross and what it means for all those who accept Him as LORD and Saviour. How He became sin to wash us clean and to reconcile us back to the Father. The blood He shed on the cross cleansed us and it is why we can even stand before GOD the Father and be heard by Him. My mind however still struggles to comprehend the magnitude of it all. What manner of love that was from GOD to sacrifice His only begotten Son to die for us sinners, and it is something that truly humbles and dumbfounds me constantly. It is a gift that has no equal and nothing we can or cannot do can make us worthy of it. This is why when we receive Christ and the Holy Spirit comes upon us, we become the reason Jesus died. We become the people He died for us to be, His righteousness. So when we say we have given our lives to Christ and yet continue to happily live as we want without a sense of shame and repentance, we make what He did for us of no use. In fact, we can confidently say we were never born again in the first place because if we are truly in Him and He in us, we will not choose to subject Him to the same humiliation and disgrace He suffered when He died on the cross.

Hebrews 6 is talking to those who understand the magnitude of what this new life they are now living is all about. How we have been bought with His blood and it is no longer us who live, but Him in us. We have heard the saying that – life is short. I never believed it until I gave my life to Christ. Now I see that life only begins when we are in Him. Simply put, nothing we did before then is of any significance, and only when we become new creations does life truly begin. “But seek first the kingdom of GOD and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. There is no other righteousness to live by or that can justify us except the Lord’s and He promises us that all that we need for a life of godliness is found in seeking Him and Him alone. Sadly, most people spend years seeking blessings in everything they can lend their hands to instead of where GOD says His blessings are. Life does not have to be hard and as tiresome as we often find it, because there’s nothing Jesus has not done for us to live victoriously. “For whatever is born of GOD overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” I John‬ ‭5:4‬ ‭NKJV.

Life does not have to be hard and as tiresome as we often find it, because there’s nothing Jesus has not done for us to live victoriously
