“In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to GOD than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!” – Luke 15: 7 NLT

Through the disobedience of one man, the whole world was overshadowed by sin. We all inherited sin and as a result got separated from GOD. In the same way, we were doomed because of one man, we were also redeemed through the obedience of one Man. The righteous requirements of the law were fully met in us through His obedience (Romans 8:4). It really amazes me how much power and impact one individual can have on multitudes. While separated from GOD we were slaves of the sinful nature. We satisfied every single craving of the flesh under the pretense of “enjoying our youth”. We were led to believe that sin is benign and doesn’t hurt anyone. What we have realized is how one person can have so much impact, so the next question is how many people have I led astray because of my disobedience? How much damage have I, as an individual, caused while I was “innocently” gratifying the sinful desires of the flesh?

“For those GOD foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters” Romans 8:29 NIV. Following our previous logic we can then deduce that since one Man’s obedience liberated everyone, we too ought to aspire to liberate others through our obedience. This is why we can no longer live like we used to. We can no longer be slaves of sin because we were predestined to be conformed to the image of the second Adam. Christ said that we will do more than what he has already done (John 14:12). This sets the bar very high and means that we have a huge responsibility on our shoulders, whether we know it or not.

“Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does” John 5:19 NIV. Having been predestined to be like Him, we also have to mimic what He is doing. We must only move when we see Him move. And this is only possible when we are in Him, and He in us. This is why everything we ask while in Him will be granted. Things that aren’t granted were asked outside of the Vine. It’s like a branch removing itself from a mango tree, and requesting to produce oranges, and expecting its request to be granted (madness).

“If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you” John 5:7 Amplified. All this is possible when we understand that our objective and goal should be to be in Christ, by Christ, and for Christ. “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear GOD and keep His commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.” We keep His commandments by remaining in Him.

Having been predestined to be like Him, we also have to mimic what He is doing. We must only move when we see Him move. And this is only possible when we are in Him, and He in us
