Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” – Romans 8:1 NLT

“Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into GOD’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all GOD’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from GOD.” – Ephesians 3:17-19 NLT

Being in Christ means that we now have a new address. It is through the Holy Spirit, by the Word of GOD, that we get to learn about the benefits of this new life. It is a NEW life, a life of power, and like the old saying goes, “with great power, comes great responsibility.” We have to grow and keep growing in the knowledge and in the likeness of Christ, in His love for us and through us. This is a daily pursuit, not only a few hours’ church visit every week.  There is an inheritance waiting for each and every one of us, and it only comes through the knowledge of Him.

“There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection].” 1 John 4:18 AMPC. I believe one of the reasons we find it hard to believe and trust that GOD has only good plans for us, even better than the ones that we have for ourselves, is because we haven’t come to an understanding of how much He loves us. As I have mentioned, we have to grow in this knowledge and as we grow, we become bold in knowing who we are and what has been done for us.

This new life is one that anyone would have to be crazy to turn down, but even with that said, sadly, many of us do, knowingly or unknowingly. We’ve been given guardians/shepherds (under-shepherds) to teach, to equip, to correct, and to discipline us, in order for us to learn and walk in this new life. When we reject these under-shepherds or GOD-given leaders, it becomes difficult for us to navigate around the Kingdom, and many a time rarely reach our full potential in what GOD has called us to. It is when we are perfected in love that we understand that GOD’s plans for our lives are good and perfect. That even the leaders that He has given us, are there for our own good and chosen by GOD Himself. “And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.” Jeremiah 3:15 NKJV.
