Seek Him While You Wait

Seek Him While You Wait

Wednesday, 26 October 2022

“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!” – Psalms 27:13-14 NKJV

How we wait on GOD matters, it’s not only about the waiting but also about how we wait. When we wait with the right attitude, GOD strengthens our hearts as we wait. This strength is required for us to endure, none of us can wait on GOD in our own strength. We would and we do make a lot of Ishmaels (mistakes and bad judgments) along the way. There’s a saying, “indlela ibuzwa kwabaphambili”, loosely translated, “the way is asked from those who’ve gone before us”. Not only do we need to imitate those who went before us, but for us to learn from the mistakes that they made. “that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Hebrews 6:12 NKJV.

It is in the waiting that we discover and get to know the Promiser/ Blesser/ Deliverer, Who we ultimately get to know as Friend and Father. It is here where we realize how much better/easier the wait could’ve been. People who went through the process successfully will tell you how much better their relationship with GOD is and how things that used to shake them no longer move them because they’ve experienced victory with the LORD, they have testimonies and a track record with the LORD. I believe GOD makes us wait primarily for this reason, otherwise if He gives us what He promised us and our relationship with Him is not solid, we will take the glory for ourselves. This also might be the reason why some believers’ breakthroughs are not coming, we are still after the promise and not the One who made the promise.

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.” Habakkuk 2:3 NKJV. The promise is sure! The One who has promised cannot lie (Numbers 23:19). It is in prayer that we seek Him, it is a daily pursuit. One that is between us and Him, in a secret place where we won’t be tempted to put on a show, but simply come wholeheartedly and in honesty. GOD is looking for the heart, He wants a relationship with us, there’s nothing that GOD won’t give to His children and His friends. Has GOD made you a promise? Wait, Be of good courage, He shall strengthen your heart to seek Him while you wait.

It is in the waiting that we discover and get to know the Promiser/ Blesser/ Deliverer, Who we ultimately get to know as Friend and Father
