“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” – Hebrews 4:15 NKJV
“When anyone comes to Me, I will never send that person away.” – John 6:37b EASY
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Good News, the Good News of what He has done for us. This Good News is so good, that every now and again we begin to doubt it and start adding “buts” where there shouldn’t be any. We place such a heavy yoke on new believers, we give them a set of rules to follow that even we ourselves are still struggling with. We miss the obvious: that our salvation was by grace (Ephesians 2:8-9), and it is the grace of GOD that teaches us and sustains us through the faith (Titus 2:11-14). Too good to be true? It’s the Gospel!
“Great sorrow awaits you religious scholars and you Pharisees—such frauds and pretenders! You do all you can to keep people from experiencing the reality of heaven’s kingdom realm. Not only do you refuse to enter in, you also forbid anyone else from entering in!” Matthew 23:13 TPT. Jesus has made a way for anyone who receives Him, to have direct access to the Father. It is mostly those that have rejected this offer that feel the need to close that door for others. They make Christianity unattainable for others so that they can feel special or elite. We are to come, and come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). This is the Good news! No perfect people are allowed (Mark 2:17).
We all get tempted and sometimes even fall. We disqualify ourselves, but GOD says, “Get up and come!”. If Jesus was tempted in every way but without sin, surely He is the One we should run to for help when tempted. He is our High Priest, who sympathizes with our weaknesses and when we go to Him, He won’t send us away. This is the Good News! The more we go to Him, the more time we spend with Him, the more time that we spend with Him, the more we are set free, and the more we become like Him (2 Corinthians 3:17-18).
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of GOD, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV.
“For the grace of GOD that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great GOD and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” – Titus 2:11-14 NKJV
