“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” – Isaiah 55:11 NKJV
“Mary responded, “I am the LORD’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.” – Luke 1:38 NLT
There is a quote that says : “Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.” Unlike the man at the pool of Bethesda that had to wait for 38 years to encounter Jesus, we don’t have to wait, He is available today. He is inviting us to approach His throne boldly for Him to transform us and change our lives for good (Hebrews 4:16). However, many of us are not ready for change because the pain of staying the same hasn’t become greater than the pain of change. What we need to know is that when GOD sends His Word, the Word comes with the power to accomplish that which GOD has said.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race GOD has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.” Hebrews 12:1-2a NLT. GOD has amazing and wonderful plans for our lives, all that He’s looking for is our “Yes”. We are a couple of weeks away from a new year, and we are hopeful that the year 2023 will be a better year than 2022. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if we remain the same, we can’t expect the new year to be any different.
We have to strive and make it our life’s pursuit to become more and more like Jesus, daily! This walk is not a bed of roses, but it is oh so glorious. It is a life full of God’s promises, and a life that is far greater than the one that we have envisioned for ourselves. God’s Word has come to us, what will our response be? It’s an invitation to the GOD-life but it requires a turning away from the old life, and a “yes” to this new life. “You have walked round this mountain for a long time. Now turn to the north.” (Deuteronomy 2:3 EASY) May we not reject this invitation to a new life and choose to keep walking around the same mountain that we have been walking around for years. I, personally, would hate to wake up after 38 years and realize that I’ve wasted time walking around the same mountain. For 2023 and beyond, let us say, “Yes” to Jesus and turn Northward.
God’s Word has come to us, what will our response be? It’s an invitation to the GOD-life but it requires a turning away from the old life, and a “yes” to this new life.
