Jesus Is The Gift

Jesus Is The Gift

Sunday Message Summary, 25 December 2022

Christmas is a sacred occasion for us to reflect on Jesus. However, the way of the world is the way of the antichrist because the world looks forward to Christmas, but not for Jesus. The world does not celebrate Jesus when Jesus is the gift to all mankind. In Jesus, GOD gave us the free gift of salvation, which we cannot earn. Christmas should therefore be a time of reflection on God’s grace, power, and love manifested through Jesus Christ. For this reason, we must keep Jesus right in front of our eyes on a day such as this vs the things of this world.

GOD, because of His great love for us, made us alive together with Christ (Ephesians 2:4-5). Life is in Christ (John 10:10b). We were deserving of eternal death, and on our way to the lake of fire and eternal damnation, but He gave us His Son because Jesus is the gift of salvation from GOD (Acts 4:12). He is the resurrection and the life for us, and during Christmas we celebrate this life with no end (2 Timothy 1:9-10). Furthermore, GOD raised us up together with Jesus that we may live with Him eternally (Ephesians 2:6). While everything is passing, we shall be with Christ eternally. Our lives are hidden with Christ, so where Christ is, there we will always be, and when Christ appears we will appear together with Him in glory (Colossians 3:3-4).

Jesus is God’s victory for believers over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19), and during Christmas we celebrate this victory that was given to us. The whole world is under the sway of the devil (1 John 5:19), but we that are born of GOD are overcomers (1 John 5:4). Therefore, we should not worry about the power that is outside against us, but we must be mindful of the power that is inside us (1 John 4:4). Knowing that we are people of authority and power, we must set our minds on things above, not the things of this world (Colossians 3:1-2).

Jesus is God’s gift of righteousness to us (2 Corinthians 5:21). Therefore, we have been released from the power of sin and death, and the consequences of sin (Romans 5:17-18). What then can the devil do against us (Romans 8:31)? The accuser cannot bring a charge against us because we have been made and declared righteous and justified (Romans 8:33). The Cross has stopped the mouth of the accuser, that even in our flaws he cannot bring a charge against us. The devil cannot condemn us of sin because Jesus died for us and His blood cleanses us from all sin and all unrighteousness (Romans 8:34). It is GOD who did all this for us through Jesus, so during Christmas we ought to reflect and meditate on all these free things He has given us (Romans 8:32).

Christmas should be a time of reflection on God’s grace, power, and love manifested through Jesus Christ.
