The Everything In All Things

The Everything In All Things

“But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.”‭‭ – Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬ ‭AMP

“But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”‭‭ ‐ Deuteronomy‬ ‭4‬:‭29‬ ‭NKJV

I recently had a conversation with a friend who had not been well. He was stressed about many things and as we went down the list of all that was weighing him down and trying to work out a solution, he came to an abrupt stop, took a deep breath and said “The truth is I need GOD. I have moved so far away from GOD that all I’m feeling is the weight of my problems and no longer the presence of GOD.” This statement touched me on so many levels, because indeed it is easy for us to keep a list of our needs and rarely is GOD at the top of that list. Yet we know that without His mercy and grace, we can do nothing.

We have spent so much time praying for “things”. We have fasted, wept and have even been delivered from all sorts of bondages in the hopes of finding our ultimate breakthrough, and yes, we have seen some of those prayers answered and have seen GOD move in a mighty way in our lives. But, in all that, there is always a space in our hearts that is still empty and crying out for more. That more is GOD. It’s the deep need to know Him. To be so immersed in His presence that nothing else around us matters. Problems will always be there. They are there every morning when we open our eyes and when we go to sleep at night, and spending all our energy and efforts on fixing them is a sad state of existing. So maybe the greatest bulk of our fasting and praying should be towards knowing the One who holds all solutions to all issues of life in His hands. Those moments in which we spend time with GOD for GOD, are always priceless. We come out feeling empowered, lighter and clearer because His presence is beyond anything words can describe, and truly speaking, that should always be our first and deepest desire.

In all that we go through this year, may we make a conscious decision to turn to Jesus sooner rather than later. For Him to be the first point of reference and our running in to His arms for solutions to be as natural an instinct as calling a friend. “He existed before anything was made, and now everything finds completion in Him.”‭‭ Colossians‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ ‭TPT‬‬. In the clutter of New Year’s resolutions, may giving our lives wholeheartedly and completely to the One who holds all things in His hands be the first and last of our ultimate desires.
