“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.” – Ephesians 6:12 AMP
One of the hardest things for human beings (including believers) to accept is that EVERYTHING, good and bad, happens first in the spirit realm and then manifests into the physical. What makes this hard to take in is that not only do we not see the realm, we must rely on discernment and spiritual guidance in order to perceive it. Which, let’s be honest, is not easy because it then forces us to constantly operate in the spirit and not the flesh. It’s easier to have a scientific or a cause-and-effect explanation for what happens in life rather than blaming invisible forces for certain situations. At least then you can make sense of how you got to where you are and you don’t have to dig deep to fix the problem. The facts remain, that evil forces do exist and they manipulate situations in such wicked ways that if one steps back and truly looks around, they will see that the patterns in their life and generationally are too coincidental to simply explain as “normal”.
Some of the best telltale signs to confirm foul play is where there are patterns that simply do not make sense. For example, there are families where the men do not live beyond a certain age, or the women do not marry, and if they do it ends in divorce. Then there are those who rise but MUST fall because they cannot go beyond a certain level of success. In some families, no one finishes school or graduates varsity. Then there are territorial cases where no one leaves that particular place, or if they do, they WILL come back because the spirits that govern there, own the people. Some areas have a level of violence that is so extreme it’s as though that land craves blood and no one in there prospers or is able to get out no matter what they do. These are but a few examples that should tell us that something deeper is at play here.
We can choose to turn our backs on the truth and live in ignorance, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” Hosea 4:6 ESV, or we can empower ourselves and make it our mission to understand not only what we are up against, but WHO is with us. “He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 2 Kings 6:16 ESV. The enemy and his demons are real and they will not rest until GOD’s children are destroyed. Not only are they hell-bent on taking us down to the pit with them, but they are also on a mission to make our lives here on earth hell. We are straight-up being cowardly by ignoring their existence and simply setting ourselves up to be casualties when ignoring the depth of their destruction in our lives and in the world. As children of GOD, we are soldiers in His spiritual army, and walking and living in ignorance makes us insubordinate. Not only are we called to fight in this invisible war, but we have been empowered with the armor and the weapons we need to live victoriously.
It is imperative that we be filled with the Holy Spirit and move in His power. It’s the only way we will discern what is happening around us and how we must respond. The one language that defeats the enemy hands down is the Word of GOD. “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8 NKJV.
Ignorance is not bliss. It’s the surest way to die like flies, all the while having more than we need to conquer in this earthly realm. We must not only grow in knowledge, wisdom, and understanding but also accept the reality of what is actually happening around us.
As children of GOD, we are soldiers in His spiritual army, and walking and living in ignorance makes us insubordinate
