“My friends, we are already children of GOD. We do not yet know clearly what we will become. But we do know this: when Christ returns to this world, we will become like Him. We will be like Him because we will see Him as he really is.” – 1 John 3:2 EASY
“So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know Him now!” – 2 Corinthians 5:16 NLT
There is a saying that says, “You may be the only Jesus some people will ever see.” I heard this saying very early in my Christian walk, and now and again I remind myself of it. It keeps me on my toes in the sense that I have a responsibility to the non-believing world, and if I can rightly represent Jesus to an unbeliever, then I have improved that person’s chances of coming to the faith. It also challenges me in that, I have to grow spiritually and become more like Him, through His Word and by His Holy Spirit. “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.” I John 4:17 NKJV.
We are His representatives here on earth, and just as He is, so are we here on the earth, we might not yet have a complete picture, but we are in the process of becoming. This requires us to keep our eyes fixed on Him, as we are being transformed into His image. This is only possible if we see Him correctly as revealed through His Word and by His Holy Spirit. This, I believe, is why as much as we can have people that we look up to in the faith, we still have to look beyond them and fix our gaze on Christ. The same goes for us, even as people encounter Christ through us, we have to keep pointing them to Him and not to ourselves. When we don’t do this, we are setting ourselves up for a painful fall and risk taking those people down with us.
“And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of GOD] as in a mirror the glory of the LORD, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the LORD [Who is] the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 AMPC. Our mandate is pretty straightforward, we need to know who we are in Him, see Him as He really is and allow Him to transform us into His image.
This is only possible if we see Him correctly as revealed through His Word and by His Holy Spirit
