“He said to them, Therefore every teacher and interpreter of the Sacred Writings who has been instructed about and trained for the kingdom of heaven and has become a disciple is like a householder who brings forth out of his storehouse treasure that is new and [treasure that is] old [the fresh as well as the familiar].” – Matthew 13:52 AMPC
“He said, “Then you see how every student well-trained in GOD’s kingdom is like the owner of a general store who can put his hands on anything you need, old or new, exactly when you need it.” – Matthew 13:52 MSG
Growing up, I have always believed that in every season of life, provision and anything else that we will need while here on earth has already been provided for in a person and at a particular place. For example, if I move out of home at the age of 13, I forfeit the benefits of the provision at home, where I’m supposed to be provided for until the time to leave home comes, and I move to the next place where GOD has commanded provision. I believe a lot of the time we find ourselves having to make means because we have left the place or people that were supposed to be a blessing at that particular time. It’s as if there’s a set path for us to walk but when we deviate from it, we miss out on the provision and blessing. I believe this is one of the reasons why the enemy causes divisions, in the church, among friends, and in families so that we leave our place of provision prematurely.
Back to the Word, in Matthew 13:52 above, it talks about people within the body of Christ, that have been instructed and trained for the Kingdom. This training qualifies them to be teachers, interpreters of the Word, and most importantly, disciples who will also disciple others. In the second part of the verse, compares these people to owners of a storehouse with treasures that they have access to for our benefit. They also know what we need and when we need it. This goes back to my point: if I walk out of the church or pastor that I’m called to submit under, those treasures remain locked up and the provision for that time is forfeited.
“He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.” Matthew 10:41 NKJV. A gift is to be received, it’s also possible to reject it. Most of us reject such gifts from GOD because we don’t like the way that they are packaged, or do not meet our “standards”. Unfortunately, we don’t get to choose our own gift, but we do choose whether to accept it or not. It is when we receive the gift that we get to partake of the rewards which are prepackaged for us in that vessel.
“And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” I Kings 19:9 NKJV. Our GOD is merciful and kind, even when we stray, He will always come looking for us to get us back to where we are supposed to be. Am I where GOD has planted me? Have I left my place of provision and blessing? I believe it’s time for us to go back to our posts, for the Kingdom’s sake. It is also important to note that our growth in the things of GOD is for the benefit and provision of others.
