Kairos

“At the right time, I, the LORD, will make it happen.” – ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭60‬:‭22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“I returned and saw under the sun that— The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.” – Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The meaning or definition of Kairos is: the perfect, delicate, crucial moment; the fleeting rightness of time and place that creates the opportune atmosphere for action, words, or movement. In the Christian circles, there’s what we have termed, “A kairos moment”, which is defined as: GOD’s time to act on human affairs.

Whenever you sit and chat with people, they will always tell you about a day or moment when their life took a turn for the worse or for the better, but it’s mostly a short period of time when things just “turned” or “did a 180”. These are defining moments in most people’s lives that they will never forget because this is when the supernatural acted on human affairs. It’s one of those, “It could only be GOD” moments. Both, good and bad because GOD works all things (both good and bad) for our good. (Romans 8:28).

Most of us have been going through a season of planting. We planted in prayers, in tears, and in whatever way that GOD instructed. GOD takes us through these seasons because, “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall never cease.” Genesis‬ ‭8‬:‭22‬ ‭BSB‬‬. So now we wait for the harvest. It’s GOD who determines the seasons, our part is to wait expectantly and be joyful just as He has instructed. This is why, whatever comes our way, we don’t sit in a corner and call it a day, but rather go back to GOD and ask for wisdom regarding the situation and the appropriate action for that season (James 1:5).

Just like a farmer, we need to continue watering the seeds KNOWING that harvest time is coming. “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬. Just like farmers, we too need to know what seeds to plant for us to reap the desired harvest, i.e. If we want potatoes, we need to plant potato seeds and not apple seeds, and at the kairos, everything will fall into place with minimal effort.

Just like a farmer, we need to continue watering the seeds KNOWING that harvest time is coming
