“Also Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it, and consecrated them. He sprinkled some of it on the altar seven times, anointed the altar and all its utensils, and the laver and its base, to consecrate them. And he poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him, to consecrate him.” – Leviticus 8:10-12 NKJV
The dictionary meaning of anointing is, “Consecrated or made sacred; dedicated to GOD, often in a ceremony that includes dabbing or sprinkling with holy oil.” And the definition of one who is anointed is, “The person or people chosen or declared chosen by GOD.” We know in our faith that this anointing is for GOD’s work and it must be beneficial to the Kingdom of GOD, which is the ultimate purpose for us as believers on this earth.
It’s very common for people to want anointing, and to some extent, even covert it because with the anointing comes power and supernatural relevance. But what many miss is what the requirements are in order to maintain and protect the anointing. In our opening Scripture, we see Moses anointing the temple and all that is in it, and also anointing Aaron for consecration for him to be set apart for the LORD’s work as a priest. This means his life as he knows it changes forever. He would now be forced to pay attention to everything around him, including amongst other things, the places he goes to, the people he associates with, and what he opens himself up to emotionally, mentally, and physically. What he allows in his mind, his thoughts, and even his heart. Basically, his life is completely committed to GOD and runs solely by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is the burden that comes with the anointing. Walking in power and authority comes at a cost, and the cost is SELF. If you are willing and open to sacrificing the self daily, then you are the perfect candidate for the anointing. This is not some witchcraft power that one can buy and sacrifice an animal for. YOU become the sacrifice and by that virtue, one must truly ask themselves if they are ready to be a vessel that houses this kind of favor and power.
There are many many elements that beautifully encapsulate what this divine and glorious gift is and what it does. And as the anointed children of GOD, we are truly protected and covered by the blood of Jesus. We have been made holy, and our lives essentially should, and must be supernatural and miraculous by nature.
“He permitted no man to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes, Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” I Chronicles 16:21-22 NKJV. I once heard a man of GOD say, “GOD does not protect people, He protects His investment.” I wanted to be offended there for a second, but the more I grow in the Word of GOD and in understanding, I hear what he was saying. If we are empowered and separated for GOD’s works, then GOD Himself will provide us with everything, including the enablement to fulfill His purpose on this earth. And that on its own should bring great comfort to a child of GOD, in knowing that GOD truly will protect THAT which He has invested and deposited in us. Nothing happens to us for naught or by mistake. If indeed we are divinely chosen and appointed, then every single experience we face has a divine purpose that will ultimately work for the greatness of our lives. If GOD rebuked even kings for the sake of His chosen ones, imagine what happens to those who come against us. Basically, if you touch GOD’s children, you are touching GOD Himself. If there was ever a sobering and comforting fact, this is it.
If indeed we are divinely chosen and appointed, then every single experience we face has a divine purpose that will ultimately work for the greatness of our lives
