”In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will,“ – Ephesians 1:11 NIV
”For it is GOD who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.“ – Philippians 2:13 NIV
One of the most frequently asked questions that we all find ourselves asking is, “What is the purpose of life? What is MY purpose?” I’ve found myself asking these questions for as long as I can remember because there has to be a reason or a purpose for life and why we are here. The darkest times in my life were whenever I felt that there was no purpose. This is when we try to fill that void with everything under the sun, and the more we do that, the more we realize that all these things only give a short-lived temporary relief. These could be relationships, alcohol, drugs, possessions, and money.
”Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely meaningless!” Ecclesiastes 1:2 NLT. These are the words of the richest man to have ever graced this earth towards the end of his life. He had EVERYTHING, even 700 wives and 300 concubines. Yet, he calls everything “meaningless”. He then concludes by saying, ”Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear GOD and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all.“ Ecclesiastes 12:13 NKJV. In essence, he’s saying, that we are to seek GOD and His purpose for our lives in order for us to live a rich, impactful, and fulfilling life.
”For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.“ Jeremiah 29:11 NIV. The Word of GOD assures us that GOD has a plan for our lives, and this plan is a plan of good. This plan carries a purpose and it’s found when we walk in His will. Before we are born again, we walk around aimlessly trying to accumulate everything that we think will fulfill us, and I believe, most of us come to Christ when we realize that nothing satisfies. After we are born again, we live surrendered lives, trusting and knowing that GOD has a plan for our lives. That this plan is far better than anything we could’ve imagined for ourselves.
The Word of GOD assures us that GOD has a plan for our lives, and this plan is a plan of good. This plan carries a purpose and it’s found when we walk in His will
