”As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall never cease.” – Genesis 8:22 BSB
”For GOD is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, He will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank GOD.“ – 2 Corinthians 9:10-11 NLT
In the Bible, often when giving is mentioned, it is either directly or indirectly compared to farming. This tells me one of two things, number one is that, just as a farmer plants seed in anticipation of a harvest, when we give, the cycle of giving is not complete without receiving. And second thing is that a harvest is guaranteed based on the soil and the intentionality that comes with sowing. For example, if I want to harvest mangoes, I can’t plant apple seeds, and not only that, but I’m more likely to plant in provinces where the climate and soil conditions are ideal for mangoes. So where I give and how I give matters.
I’ve also once heard someone say that, “Don’t let the pressure of those eating their harvest make you eat your seeds”. And this tells me that, there is a season to plant, and when we miss that season and don’t plant, there won’t be a harvest. We are quick to blame GOD when we see others enjoying their harvest and we forget that we missed our season to plant. It is also important to note that the day we plant is not the day we eat the harvest. We require patience and to grow in the LORD while we wait for the harvest. ”A lazy farmer does not plough his fields in winter. As a result, he has nothing to eat when harvest time arrives.“ Proverbs 20:4 EASY.
”GOD is always right and fair. He will not forget all the good things that you have done. You have shown that you love him very much because you have helped the other believers. And you continue to help them as GOD’s servants.“ Hebrews 6:10 EASY. Trusting in GOD’s character and His Word is just as important, most of us have surrendered many areas of our lives to GOD but not the area of finances. This is very telling because the Bible tells us that, “where your treasure is, that’s where your heart will be”, so the things that we spend money on, are the things that matter to us, and that is where our hearts are. We should be always looking for an opportunity to give and not always waiting for when we have more than enough or an ideal situation. ”A farmer who waits for the right wind will never plant any seeds. If he is always looking at the clouds, he will never bring in his crops.“ Ecclesiastes 11:4 EASY.
