“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” – Luke 24:49 NKJV
“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.” – Acts 2:1-2 NKJV
The Christian life is a life of power, power from above. This power comes to live on the inside of us in the person of the Holy Spirit. I saw a post that said that, “Christianity without GOD is not difficult, it is impossible”. This resonated with me in the sense that, life becomes frustrating when we try and do it on our own, without the Holy Spirit. “Then the angel said to me, ‘The LORD said this to Zerubbabel: “You will need my Spirit. You yourself are too weak. And you do not have enough power.” This is what the LORD Almighty says:” Zechariah 4:6 EASY.
None of us can earn or buy the Holy Spirit, we just need to acknowledge that we cannot do it by ourselves, and ask for Him from the Father. “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13 NKJV. It takes humility both to acknowledge that we can’t do it on our own and to ask. Oftentimes, when we ask, it requires us to wait. Waiting deals with the flesh and pride.
In essence, this life requires GOD for us to live a fruitful life, and when we choose to live without Him, we have a miserable existence. GOD, in His love, gives us the opportunity to surrender this life back to Him, for Him to use it as He wills for His glory and for us to live fulfilled lives. “When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: Fear GOD and keep His commandments, because this is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes 12:13 BSB.
