The Wonder In The Extraordinary

The Wonder In The Extraordinary

“Therefore the LORD said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men, Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work Among this people, A marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.” – ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭29‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

As people, more often than not, we look up to others for inspiration, knowledge, wisdom, and most of what we think we need to make it in life. That on its own is not a bad thing necessarily, as wisdom is given to man by GOD. The problem comes when we begin to neglect putting GOD first in all we do and need, and quickly turn to what is proven and tested according to our understanding and observations. I suppose because the things of the spirit require us to be spiritual and need us to appropriate them through faith, it’s simply easier to approach the human beings we can see and access in the physical and to read books and manuals to guide us through life. The disappointing part of this option is how much we shortchange ourselves by relying on the wisdom of man and not going directly to Wisdom Herself, even though she has not stopped reaching out to us.

We know that the Word of GOD says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,”. Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬. And if we truly believe what GOD says in His Word, and the plan is to be great and live lives that are worth writing home about, then He should always be our first point of contact and our source of all we need to do great and marvelous things.

GOD often chose the seemingly foolish people in the Bible to use mightily, and He is the one who gave them the wisdom to achieve incredible feats which, till today, we are still inspired by when we read about them. He is the same GOD today who can do even greater in and through us. If only we would trust Him to give us the wisdom we need to BE extraordinary beings in our lifetimes.

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬. The disciples had spent time with Jesus, who is GOD, and it showed in who they became. We are still reading about them today and aspiring to be just like them because of the wisdom they received from above. Even though the Pharisees hated Jesus, they could not deny that His wisdom was not of this world and it was easy to recognize the same Spirit in those who had been with Him. Now imagine what this would mean for us if we went to the One who gives us all things liberally and asked Him for the one thing that transforms ordinary mere mortals into extraordinary wonders on this earth.

It’ll take us fully rejecting mediocrity in our lives and leaning into who GOD says we are, and thus asking for what we need to step into that reality. Seriously speaking, Wisdom is a superpower that many of us believers are neglecting because of our inability to just ask.

Even though the Pharisees hated Jesus, they could not deny that His wisdom was not of this world and it was easy to recognize the same Spirit in those who had been with Him
